J. P. King CEO Craig King and Vice President Steve Ellis Join Humanitarian Efforts In Africa

J. P. King CEO Craig King and VP Steve Ellis recently joined a humanitarian team from their church where they have been providing food and other assistance in the severly drought stricken areas of Zimbabwe. For over 20 years they have worked with local Zimbabweans to help relieve their suffering and help address their needs. The long term solution that they embarked on more than 10 years ago was the drilling of wells ” bore holes” to allow for rural villagers to have clean drinking water and also have water to use for drip irrigation gardens. Without water they can’t grow gardens and most families have only one small meal per day.

The pair has traveled to Zimbabwe numerous times overseeing this work. A drip irrigation kit cost less than $500 and can feed numerous families. A well typically cost $5,000 to $6,000 USD depending on soil types and the depth needed to drill to hit water. A well will only be drilled when the probability of hitting water is 90% or greater. Wells have been recently drilled in the villages of Gweru , Chidobe and another is scheduled for August in Nyomandlovu.

In this arid climate family members, typically young women have the task of walking many miles to collect water for their family needs. This often dangerous task can also prevent them from attending school.

This is an ongoing work sponsored through the Rainbow church of Christ and other congregations in the US and Canada.
