Magdalena Palace model Devault Manor to Auction J.P. King Auction Company to Auction Unique Johnson City, TN Estate

Johnson City, TNJ.P. King Auction Company announces Devault Manor, modeled after Magdalena Palace in Europe, to be auctioned Friday, July 10, at 11:00 a.m. ET. Owned by Wayne and Sandra Thacker, the 19,000 square foot stone home is located on 13 acres of beautiful Appalachian Mountain countryside to include 750 feet on the shores of Boone Lake.

Enter the home through 22-foot carved French wooden double doors that open to a spacious foyer with soaring ceilings, marble floors, and parallel curved staircases that lead to the upper levels and separate wings of the home. The 8 bedroom, 10 full bath and 4 half bath home includes an elevator for easy access. The large master suite includes his and her bathrooms and his and her closets.

Hand carved fireplace mantels frame five propane fireplaces. Handmade custom stained-glass windows are located throughout the home. The home took 10 years to build.

“My wife Sandra and I enjoyed many evenings sitting in the second story overview and gazing through the large picture window to watch the sun set. It is a beautiful place to enjoy the end of a day,” said Wayne Thacker.

Play pool in the billiards room outfitted with one of two pubs in the home. Host movie nights in the custom-made Macintosh state-of-the-art home theater which includes a JVC D-ILA projection system, four levels of luxurious seating and meticulous ornate appointments designed by renowned home theater planner Theo Kalomirakis. The theater has its own parking lot and as you enter a ticket booth offers the ability to host theatrical events and fundraisers.

“The theater is my favorite room in the house. The sound is amazing,” said Wayne Thacker.

The property also includes a private maid’s apartment with a kitchen and a 4-car attached garage.

The grounds of the estate are completely fenced in and include a guard house at the entry gate and high-resolution multi-camera fiber-optic security system which can be remotely controlled.

“A lot of people have asked me if this large estate feels homey. It may be intimidating at first but once you’ve been there it feels like home. Both my daughters were in school when we first moved in and we all enjoyed hosting their friends, who had a great time together. We made good memories in this home,” said Wayne Thacker.

For outdoor entertaining, a large 30’ x 16’ pool sits directly behind the home with views overlooking Boone Lake. A six-person Caldera Spas hot tub and outdoor kitchen with an Alfresco open air culinary system complete the poolside area for outdoor entertaining.

Situated on the main channel of the Watauga River that feeds into Boone Lake, the boathouse features four Jet Ski lifts with Touchless Covers, three boat slips two of which are electric lifts with covers, and a large lakefront gazebo.

A 1/16 scale model of the Bristol Motor Speedway go-kart track hosts the go-kart enthusiast. Nearby, a detached 2,300 square foot 10-car capacity climate controlled garage boasts two Challenger electric car lifts with 9,000 pounds capacity each.

“I am a car enthusiast and the garage space drew me in. At one time, we housed 14 cars inside the climate controlled garage. Also, there is ample paved parking on-site. For one charity event, we parked 300 vehicles on the pavement. Devault Manor is an amazing place to host a variety of events between the racetrack, the theater and the outdoor activities,” said Wayne Thacker.

The estate is located minutes away from Johnson City and the nearby Appalachian Mountains. Johnson City is ranked 14th “Best Small Place for Business and Careers” in the USA by Forbes and is 45 minutes from the nearest ski slopes.
