A Farewell Message From Our President/CEO

November 20, 2023

A Letter from the Desk of J. Craig King

Dear J. P. King Family, Clients, and Esteemed Partners,

It is with a heart full of gratitude and immense pride that I announce my retirement as the President and CEO of J. P. King Auction Company.  Founded by my grandfather in 1915, this organization has not just been a business but a significant chapter of my life’s story.

Over the past four decades, it has been an honor and privilege to serve as the leader of this iconic firm. J. P. King’s legacy in the auction industry is truly unparalleled. We have grown from a strong regional firm to a national powerhouse at the forefront of the auction industry. Our brand’s significance, especially within the auction community, is testament to the passion, integrity, and commitment with which we operate.

To our clients, thank you for placing your trust in us, particularly in those moments when we embarked on the sensitive journey of selling your cherished properties. The comfort and confidence you’ve felt in our services have been the driving force behind our success.

To our thousands of buyers from all 50 states and abroad we thank you. Our success would not have been possible without your participation. We hope you have found our support and attention to detail helpful in your purchase of the properties we have represented.

To the entire J. P. King family, thank you for your unwavering support, dedication, and tireless effort. Together, we’ve celebrated milestones, weathered storms, and forged ahead, always putting our clients’ best interests first.

The auction and real estate industry has evolved over the years, and it’s been exhilarating to be a spokesperson and advocate for this dynamic sector. From features on prominent platforms like CNBC and Wall Street Journal to serving in distinguished positions at the Auction Marketing Institute and National Auctioneers Association, every moment has been a testament to the love I hold for this industry.

As I transition into the next chapter of my journey, I am filled with excitement and confidence for the future of J. P. King. I’m elated to announce that Trey Perman, a brilliant real estate aficionado and a dear family friend, will be taking the reins as the President/CEO. My relationship with Trey dates back decades.  It’s not just the professional collaboration but the deep-rooted personal bond we share that convinces me our company’s legacy is in the best hands. His expertise in all types of real estate, especially in commercial real estate investment properties, and his shared values and vision will undoubtedly steer J. P. King towards even grander horizons.

Further strengthening our leadership team is my sister, Christie King Ray, recently announced as the Vice President. Christie’s ardor for the auction business, her trailblazing journey, and her indomitable spirit makes her an invaluable asset to our organization. Under Trey’s leadership, with the steadfast support of Steve Ellis as Executive Vice President, J. P. King is poised for continued success.

While I may be retiring from my official role as CEO, my heart will forever remain intertwined with J. P. King. I’ll still be serving as a Senior Auction Marketing Specialist, assisting Clients’, and ensuring our legacy thrives.

In closing, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each one of you who have been a part of my journey. I look forward to witnessing the new heights we will achieve together.

With profound gratitude and warmth,

Craig King                                                                                                                                      President Emeritus                                                                                                                                      J.
