Summerlin mansion set for auction sells early for $1.87 million

LAS VEGAS, NEV. -- A Summerlin mansion originally set to sell to the highest bidder ended going to an early buyer instead. The five-bedroom home in the Tournament Hills development sold for $1.87 million in a private sale, according to J.P. King Auction Company, Gadsden, Ala., which managed the sale.

The most common reason for selling a high-end home at auction is to speed up the sales process. Now and then, the process speeds up a little more than planned, and thats always great. The important thing is to get it sold, said Craig King, president of J.P. King.

In cases like this, both the buyer and the seller benefit, because they reach an agreement that is acceptable to everybody. It doesnt happen every day, but we see it in about 10 percent of our home sales, said King.

The Tournament Hills home featured arched stone entryways, white marble flooring, a large heated pool, and five fireplaces, including one in the master suite.

Selling the home was Tony Sullman, a London native whose parents, Lord and Lady Churchminshull, had lived in the house before moving recently to the Bahamas. The promotion for the planned auction made it possible for us to reach a sale agreement before the auction date, and Im very pleased with the outcome, said Sullman.

The buyer, whose name was not disclosed, was represented by Cheryl Dwyer, of Universal Realty.
