Industry veteran Proffitt named Vice President of Legal Affairs and General Counsel for J.P. King
GADSDEN, AL – J.P. King Auction Company, Gadsden, Ala., has named industry veteran Steve Proffitt as the company’s new Vice President of Legal Affairs and General Counsel.
Proffitt, who has taught seminars in 22 states, is a recognized leader in legal issues related to auctions. He has been interviewed by The Wall Street Journal, Money Magazine, Forbes and MSNBC on industry issues.
“We’re coming off one of the best years in our 90-year history, and we’re seeing more opportunities throughout North America than ever before. Naturally, we’re expanding to meet the increased demand,” said Craig King, president of J.P. King. “Laws and regulations governing the auction and real estate industries vary widely throughout the United States and abroad, and these are constantly evolving. We felt the time was right to establish the new position, and Steve was the perfect person for the job,” he said.
Proffitt is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law and the Missouri Auction School. He teaches legal classes at the Reppert School of Auctioneering in Auburn, Ind., and the Mendenhall School of Auctioneering in High Point, N.C.
Proffitt will also continue his work as a writer, speaker and teacher on auction-related topics.
