St. Augustine oceanfront home sells for $2.887 million
ST. AUGUSTINE, FL – An oceanfront mansion in St. Augustine's exclusive Sea Colony community sold for $2.887 million in a J.P. King Auction Thursday, Sept. 28.
Twenty-three bidders from as far away as New York and the West Indies gathered at the home for the auction, which required a $50,000 cashier's check just to register for the bidding.
Bidding opened at $1.9 million, followed quickly by a bid of $2 million and continuing for 20 minutes before Wayne and Eleanor Robison, of St. Augustine, emerged as the top bidders. The Robisons own Rulon Company, of St. Augustine, which manufactures acoustical wood and PVC ceiling and wall systems.
It was the second sale of an oceanfront home in the area for J.P. King in 2006. Earlier, the company sold a luxury home in Ponte Vedra for $1.9 million.
