J. Craig King, CCIM, CAI, AARE

President and CEO

In almost two decades as president of J. P. King, Mr. King has played a key role in the nationwide explosion in the use of auctions for high-value properties such as mansions, ranches, land, condominiums and developments. He is currently a member of the board of the National Auctioneers Association Foundation and was inducted in 2006 into the Alabama Auctioneers Hall of Fame.

During his career, he has served the industry as president of the Auction Marketing Institute and president of the Alabama Auctioneers Association. In addition, he has been a director of the National Auctioneers Association and a member of the Auction Committee of the National Association of Realtors.

Because of his reputation and experience, he is frequently sought out by such national media as the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune, US News & World Report, Forbes and other prestigious publications. He has been a guest on major networks, including CBS, CNBC and CNN. He authors a widely followed blog on high-end real estate at craigking.realblogging.com.

Mr. King frequently serves as a speaker for such organizations as the National Auctioneers Association, Auction Marketing Institute, and the National Association of Realtors, in addition to various auction and real estate organizations. Mr. King is active in civic organizations, having previously served as vice president of the U. S. Junior Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. King holds real estate and auctioneer licenses in more than a dozen states and has personally auctioned approximately 10,000 properties with sales prices totaling $1 billion.

 

Jody Keene

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Keene brings a wealth of experience to his current position. Before joining J. P. King, he served as a staff accountant for an Ingersoll-Rand subsidiary, where he was responsible for cost accounting and general accounting operations. In addition, he was responsible for overseeing financial operations at six cost centers for a billion-dollar company.

At J. P. King, he oversees all financial activities, including preparation of current financial reports as well as summaries and forecasts for future business growth and general economic outlook. He holds a B.S. degree from Jacksonville State University, with a concentration in accounting.

 

 

Christie King Ray, CAI, AARE, BAS

Board of Directors and Principal

Ms. King Ray is a continued leader in the auction industry with more than 24 years of valuable experience. Currently serving as Secretary on J. P. King’s Board of Directors, Ms. King Ray is also an auction day manager for J. P. King.

Ms. King Ray worked with J. P. King full time until 2007. During that time, she was involved in all aspects of the business including licensing, human resources, auction-day activities and financial management. She has been instrumental in selling over three quarters of a billion dollars in real estate, covering all 50 states and six countries.

Ms. King Ray is president and founder of C King Benefit Auctions , where she consults with non-profit organizations in fundraising.

Her contributions travel far beyond her role with J. P. King. She leads the auction industry through years of contributions to the National Auctioneers Association, where she currently serves as the first female and first Alabamian to hold the office of president of the association. After taking office, Ms. King Ray was honored with a key to the City of Gadsden and a proclamation by Mayor Sherman Guyton for “Christie King Ray Day” on July 27, 2011, for her history-making endeavor within the National Auctioneers Association.

Ms. King Ray holds the prestigious Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI), Accredited Auctioneer of Real Estate (AARE) and the Benefit Auctioneer Specialist (BAS) designations from the National Auctioneers Association’s Education Institute. She also served a two-year term on the Education Institute during her term as Vice President to the NAA. Ms. King Ray is an active member and past president of the Alabama Auctioneers Association and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2007. She is also a member of the Georgia Auctioneers Association and the South Carolina Auctioneers Association.

The Governor of Alabama appointed Ms. King Ray to the Alabama State Board of Auctioneers in 1998. During her term being the first female and the youngest board member ever elected, she served as Chairperson.

She is also an instructor for Jacksonville State University’s Auction School where she instructs on marketing, real estate and conducting fundraising auctions.

Ms. King Ray was awarded the Girl Scouts’ “Women of Distinction” award in Northeast Alabama in 2010. She holds a real estate license in over a dozen states as well as an auctioneer license in multiple states.

 

SHALON STEED

Auction Manager

As Auction Operations Manager, Shalon oversees all auction-related activities at JP. King. These vital elements include project management, auction administration, on-site showing personnel, and the production of JP. King’s industry-leading auction events.  With almost a decade of communication and event management experience, Shalon uses her trademark skills of problem solving, creativity, and flexibility to produce fulfilling auctions for the clients of JP. King.  She excels at logistics and operations, and her attention to detail means that auction events go smoothly from concept to completion.

Shalon is proficient at responding quickly to changing circumstances, always maintaining an upbeat attitude. As a project manager, she cultivates customer service that nurtures positive, productive relationships with both clients and agents.  Her dedication to advocating a positive environment expands past her work responsibilities, as Shalon is active in several charitable and service organizations. 

Shalon holds a B.A. in Communications from Jacksonville State University, where her time in the public relations department prepared her for a variety of work settings and enhanced her ability to understand diverse audiences.   In her down time she can be found exploring this amazing world with her husband, Chris, and two dogs, Charlie and Silvie.

 

MANDY COURINGTON

Director of Marketing

As Director of Marketing for J. P. King, Mandy is responsible for the oversight of all auction marketing campaigns as well as all corporate branding efforts. These responsibilities have included the creation and distribution of award-winning online and print marketing materials as well as maintaining J.P. King’s extensive database of clients and high-end buyers.

Mandy was also instrumental in the creation of J. P. King’s innovative website, and she helps to keep J.P. King on the cutting edge of all of the newest marketing tools to reach buyers around the globe. Beginning her career with J.P. King over 17 years ago, Mandy has learned the business from the ground up. Her department is responsible for placing millions of dollars of media annually, and her experience and expertise has helped to position J.P. King’s properties strategically in the marketplace.

Her strong work ethic, attention to detail, and creativity continue to assist J.P. King in providing clients with wide-reaching, thorough marketing campaigns to ensure that no stone has been left unturned when showcasing a property.
